Waking up in the morning can be a struggle, but applying skin care products right after waking up is an even bigger struggle. What we don’t realize is that these skin care products actually play a crucial part in the quality of our skin. Questions such as; “What products would I use”? “In what order should i use them”? And “How do I apply them?” are sure to arise.
But no worries! Here is a list of the morning skincare products that are must haves, used in their rightful order.
Though this doesn’t exactly qualify as a makeup product, it is crucial to preserving, and establishing, the luminosity of your face. Instead of waking up in the morning and heading straight to the kitchen to make yourself coffee, try drinking one tall glass of water first. You will realize how much better you feel throughout the day. Not only does this help your mood, but your face as well. Dehydration causes dullness, dryness and breakouts, so make sure to hydrate often!
Always make sure to clean your face from all the dirt and oils that you accumulate while sleeping. Use an oil-based cleanser, rinse your face, and make sure to wash your face with warm water, as water that is too cold or too hot can actually prove to be detrimental to your skin. Afterwards, use a warm, wet towel to wipe your face. This will leave your skin perfectly clean and supple, creating the perfect canvas for your skin care products.
So what does exfoliating really do? Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and creates a smoother appearance to the skin. You need not spend all your money buying an expensive exfoliating machine, as washing your face with a simple cotton wash cloth will do wonders on its own. Rinse the wash cloth under lukewarm water, then squeeze it so as to remove any excess moisture, leaving it perfectly damp, then rub it in a circular motion from your nose then onwards towards the rest of your face.
If you have acne prone skin, toning is very important. This will help balance your skin and reduce oils. If you are looking for an ideal toner, look for one that is alcohol free with ingredients good for the skin; such as chamomile, hibiscus extract, and Vitamin E. Always remember to gently spread on the face instead of scrubbing.
Moisturizing your skin creates the perfect foundation for applying makeup. If you live in a hot country like the Philippines, try to opt for a moisturizer that isn’t too heavy. This will allow your makeup and face to look as fresh and luminous as possible. When applying, gently smooth it around the face instead of rubbing.
SPF is incredibly important, even if you are just at home the whole day.
This is a step you should never skip. Sun damage can lead to wrinkles, sunspots, dull complexion, and potentially; melanoma.
Always remember to apply SPF of at least a minimum of 15. Apply first on your hands, then spread evenly across your face and neck. Don’t forget the other parts of your body as well! If you intend to apply makeup afterwards, make sure to apply your primer after applying your SPF.
Doing your skin care in the morning can make all the difference in making your face shine, even if you are lacking on some sleep. That’s the secret. Best of luck, beauties!
